Teaching Assistant Job Description (Part-Time: 29 Hours A Week)

We are seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to join our team for the remainder of the current school year, with the expectation of continuing into the 2026–27 school year. The position for the current school year runs from Monday, April 6 through Friday, June 12.  The position for the new school year will begin on Monday, July 27, 2026. An employment agreement for the 2026–27 school year will be offered in mid-May, contingent upon positive performance evaluations.

 

The teaching assistant will perform tasks that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Photocopying
  • Working with small groups of students
  • Working one-on-one with a student
  • Supervising the transition of students to and from special classes and recess. 
  • Organizing learning materials
  • The teaching assistant will also be available to substitute teach a class in the event a teacher is absent.

 

 

Requirements:

  • Flexible, quick learner with a positive attitude and strong growth mindset
  • Caring and patient when working with young children; able to identify and build on student strengths
  • Able to take direction while also being a self-starter who anticipates needs and initiates tasks that improve student learning, classroom environment, and teacher efficiency
  • Maintains consistent routines and expectations and uses effective, positive classroom management.
  • Actively listens during instruction to effectively support students during independent work and small-group learning
  • Willing and able to teach or support small groups, provide differentiated instruction, and cover lessons when needed
  • Reviews lesson plans, uses planning time effectively, and stays organized using shared tools (e.g., Google platforms)
  • Strong technology competency
  • Collaborates effectively with a variety of staff to maintain consistency across classes and support school goals
  • Works to uphold TES Crew Values
  • Effective communicator with students, teachers, and staff
  • Physically able to lift up to 30 pounds and comfortably bend, stand, walk, and move throughout a multi-level campus (gravel, grass, and cement surfaces)

Hours:

  • All Full Day Student Days : 8:15am - 2:30pm (usually M, T, Th, F)
  • All Early Release Day Student Days: 8:00am - 12pm (Most W’s)

Pay:

 

  • $17.65/hour
